Arthur Edward Davey was born in Nailsea in 1921 and after war service returned to Nailsea in 1947. He under-studied Mr. Edwin Lippiatt, the local funeral director who had inherited the business from his father Mr. Walter Lippiatt. In the 1950's Edwin Lippiatt retired leaving Arthur to continue the business. Arthur's two sons Tony and Colin joined the firm from school and since his death in 1985 they have continued to expand the business.
